Scottish Art - Paintings of Scotland:
Eilean Donan Castle
by D. Bruce Bennett
Eilean Donan Castle After the Rain
You'd be hard put to find a more photographed Scottish castle than Eilean Donan since it's usually listed as one of the most popular of Scottish castles. (The problem with photographs, though, is all those car parks and tourists!) Here's a picture of Scotland you won't get with your digital - or any other camera, for that matter: retreating storm clouds and the gentle, pastel glow of watercolor-style Scottish Art.

Eilean Donan Castle is located where three Scottish sea lochs (Loch Long, Loch Alsh, and Loch Duich) meet, just a few miles east of the Isle of Skye. If you've visited Scotland even once, you've probably been to this undeniably romantic Scottish castle. In reality, what we see of it today is largely a Victorian reinterpretation of the original medieval castle, built in 1230.
Though this piece of Bruce's original artwork has sold, he can certainly create a similar piece if you've got your heart set on Eilean Donan Castle. You might want to return to the Scottish Castles page to see more paintings of Eilean Donan and get some ideas. Already have some? Just tell Bruce about the picture of Scotland you have in your head. If you have your own JPG photo you'd like to attach, that'll help give him an idea of what you want.

(Check our black-and-white print of Eilean Donan, too. Its $8 half-off price makes it a downright steal.)
